Sprockets

Chain sprockets connect the shafts to the chains. They must, therefore, not only ensure a reliable connection between the shaft and nub in shafts of different geometry, but their tooth profile must also fit the chain used as well as possible. This is the only way to ensure reliable, low-friction, and low-noise operation. This allows chains of different designs (e.g. roller, sleeve, or toothed chains) and pitch (e.g. 6.35 mm, 8 mm, 9.525 mm) to be used, as well as simplex and duplex chains. When wheel material and manufacturing processes are selected, the load to which the chain sprocket will be subjected, the geometry to be implemented, and operating efficiency are all taken into account. A basic distinction is made between the following types:

  • Fine blanked sprockets
  • Sprockets made from sintered metal
  • Machined sprockets
  • Forged/extruded sprockets
